Rangers Release Ibrox 125 Heritage Kit by Castore
Glasgow giants Rangers FC have partnered with kit manufacturer Castore to unveil a special edition heritage kit commemorating the 150th anniversary of the club's iconic Ibrox Stadium. Originally designed by the renowned architect Archibald Leitch, a Rangers supporter, the stadium’s current structure is a testament to his legacy, with Leitch also contributing to the designs of other notable grounds such as Old Trafford in Manchester and Highbury in London. Ibrox opened its doors on 30th December 1899, with Rangers securing a 3–1 victory over Hearts in the first match played at the new stadium.
Modelled by former heroes Barry Ferguson, Lee McCulloch and Mark Hateley, the kit boasts a clean, minimalist design, featuring a light blue base complemented by white sponsor logos. It showcases a retro-inspired v neck collar, distinguished by a subtle blue line running centrally through it. The finishing touch is a club badge that harkens back to the early years at the iconic Ibrox Stadium, beneath which is the inscription ‘IBROX STADIUM 1899 X 2024’ in elegant gold lettering.
Many fans have expressed disappointment with the club’s performance this season, as Rangers find themselves trailing behind Old Firm rivals and a resurgent Aberdeen in third place, while also posting record losses in the latest financial reports. The reaction to the new kit release has been mixed. While some supporters have praised its design and the tribute to their beloved home of 125 years, others feel it serves as a quick and easy cash grab, particularly at a time when the mood around the club is at a low ebb.
